Independent Fundamental Baptist Wolves to Beware Of

Updated: Nov 28

Consider a brief exposé by way of video of the following IFB heretics, with the odd mention on how they tie to influential preachers and churches closer to home. These men include Jack Hyles, Jack Schaap, Bill Gothard, Jack Trieber, Steve Anderson, Tony Hutson, Curtis Hutson, Clarence Sexton, Peter Ruckman, David Gibbs Jr., Larry Brown, and more, and in no particular order besides the first one, the king of man-centred heretics.

Important point worth noting: though these men for the most part are heretical, a number of IB churches are not and such churches separated from the likes of these men are way way more Biblical than any evangelical or Protestant type of church, by a long shot. True and Biblical independent historical Baptist churches trace their lineage to the time of Christ, and are representative of the stream of God's true pillar and ground churches, in contrast to the false lineage of churches, the harlots that were largely founded upon Roman Catholicism, the great whore (Rev 17-18). While I have very serious problems with the heretics and wolves that roam among the IFB, the ones in mind that Paul was warning the true and biblical churches at Ephesus about in Acts 20:29-30, I have even greater issue with many of the IFB detractors. Many of IFB's most bitter enemies have their own rotten and ungodly agenda and try to discredit the IFB and their adherence to God's Word with false labels such as "legalists" and "Pharisees" and other such things, and discredit or attack their use of the KJV and their stand upon this authoritative Bible to be used among the English speaking world. The pollution of minds and hearts with strange, convoluted and ungodly theories, doctrines, worldliness and sinful practices among these groups, such as evangelicals and Protestants, reflects the truth that they are almost a complete basket of heretics and wolves in sheep's clothing in their Laodicean harlot churches, which are loaded with primarily unsaved hypocrites, much, much worse than any average IFB church, which really are the last bastions of true Biblical Christianity in the world.

A GOOD START WOULD BE THIS VIDEO COLLECTION OF QUOTES BY VARIOUS IFB WOLVES IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING. This includes Peter Ruckman, Jack Hyles, Larry Brown, Sam Gipp, Tony Hutson, Jack Schaap, Larry Smith, Jim Standridge, Larry Brown, Steven Anderson, etc. Most of these men are embraced or fellowshipped with by majority IFB churches including Liberty Faith Church pastored by Reg Kelly and Pembina Valley Baptist Church / Canadian Baptist Bible College out of Winkler, MB, pastored by Mike Sullivant (with church plants in Airdrie and Taber in Alberta). Though its much longer than the clips that follow, its well worth the watch. [Click on the picture]

JACK HYLES. “Pastor” Jack Hyles built the foundation of the modern IFB movement. His Independent Baptist empire (First Baptist Church and Hyles Anderson College) was built on a foundation of scandals, corruption, heresy, lies, lording and cover ups that infected nearly every circle of the IFB movement, and continues to this day. This habitual liar that exalted himself above God the Son, yea this wolf in sheep’s clothing is accountable to millions burning in eternal hell fire whom he fed a false gospel and manipulated into a “sinners prayer.” The video below uncovers some of this.

Here is another clip on Hyles the Racist Dictator:

Has First Baptist Church (FBC) of Hammond changed under pastor Wilkerson? No. It still teaches the same false and perverted gospel and false sanctification of Jack Hyles. Neither has there ever been any clear repentance. In the following video FBC helps David Hyles, a pedophile, serial sexual molester, possibly a murderer, and son of Jack Hyles, to fight his lawsuits by Joy Ryder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNWeQTypzkU

JACK SCHAAP. Extreme heretic and blasphemer, preaching evil sermons and embracing a severely corrupted gospel and truck loads of false doctrine, the pastor successor of First Baptist Church and son-in-law of Jack Hyles , a convicted pedophile presently serving 12 years in prison. Part one of the Schaap mini-series brings an overview of the kind of monster that Jack Schaap truly is and was to his victim.

LESTER ROLOFF. Roloff Evangelistic Enterprises. Pastor Lester Roloff fostered and covered up a culture of abuse at his Roloff homes, primarily the Rebekah Home for Girls, for years. He coerced churches into sending him love gifts in the name of sponsorship while he built a multi-million dollar empire. He was also a typical lord over the flock, which is so common among the IFB.

JACK TRIEBER. Here is another one filled with truck loads of heresy and man-centred cultish IFB behaviour. He was a close associate of the late Jack Hyles and preaches the same perverted gospel as Hyles, North Valley Baptist Church in Santa Clara, California has been riddled with scandals for decades that they have been extremely skilled in concealing, until now. This video will highlight how “pastor”Jack Trieber attempted to cover up abuse against a minor by Cameron Giovanelli, the President of his church's college.

STEPHEN BRATTON. “Pastor” of Grace Family Baptist Church in the Houston, Texas area, Stephen Bratton was arrested for molesting a child over a period of five years.

TOMMY STEALE. And steal he did, devouring a widow. “Pastor” Thomas Wayne Steele is a convicted felon serving a prison term of 6-8 years for embezzling over $120,000 from a widow.

TONY HUTSON, the son of the IFB heretic Curtis Hutson (the second chief of the man-centred and heretical false gospel promoting Sword of the Lord publication): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC80pemokSp_heiSV3VY7Dtg/videos

LARRY BROWN. Brown is a mentally imbalanced and disturbed actor whose preaching is bad theatrics mixed with massive amounts of wresting of Scripture and heresy, which does nothing to convert the heart of a lost man because it's not the Word of God but cheap theatrics. He is a close associate with Reg Kelly and has preached many times at Liberty Faith Church. The first video (above) had plenty on him and here is one about his infatuation with feet and kissing toes:

CHRIS SETTLEMOIR. A sick and wicked sodomite pervert who raped young boys. Oh, and, like most of the examples above, the church staff knew all about it but did nothing except hide it.

CLARENCE SEXTON. The highly influential pastor of Temple Baptist Church and president of Temple Baptist College, Sexton is loaded with the typical man-centred IFB errors and fallacies, church growth heresy, and propagates the same false repentant-less, Lord-less, easy-believism, quick-prayerism gospel of Jack Hyles whom he loved and called "a great man":

DAVID GIBBS Jr. Lawyer David Gibbs has a reputation for defending corrupt and immoral IFB men. In the video below starting at time 08:40, you will see Gibbs defend the convicted child molester and pedophile A.V. Bellenger, a staff member of the church pastored by the wolf in sheep’s clothing Jack Hyles. David Gibbs Jr. also says in the video, that “[Jack Hyles] is a man that has stood with Character and Integrity that is Unreproachable.”

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Is. 5:20).

PETER RUCKMAN. He proclaimed Self-Exorcism, approved of Abortion Murder (which is typically approved by women who are guilty of it or men who pushed a women to do it), and at times even got egregious claims right, like ”I’m A Sheep In Wolves' Clothing". And so much more:

JIM STANDRIDGE. Baptist “Pastor“ and dictator Jim Standridge has made a name for himself through a video of one of his sermons, showing him yelling criticisms at some of his members. The pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Skiatook, OK, for 24 years, stepped down from his pulpit into the seated congregation on May 19, 2020, to call out one of the members for dozing off. He then went on to say to another who had missed several services, "You are one of the sorriest church members I have. You're not worth 15 cents." During this particular service, Pastor Standridge decided to take his preaching in a personal and arguably erratic direction, targeting various members present in the pews. After warning one mother that her children would turn against her due to her heinous ways as well as certain youth members of the congregation remodeling the video room in the church into their own "kingdom," all of which was said while interjecting “you know I love you” pathetic flummery, Standridge then assured his audience that if they did not want to listen to his messages, he would gladly leave town. Standridge is a quintessential example of man-centred IFB heretics.

JIM SMITH. Preacher Gets Confused About Who Christians Are Supposed to Worship:

SAM GIPP. One of my biggest issues with Gipp—though I would suspect his gospel and sanctification are worst than anemic and probably border heresy (I would suspect that based upon what I have read of his stuff and who he associates with)—is that he doesn’t believe in Biblical preservation of Scripture but actually denies it. He is a leader of the modern pendulum swing of a category of King James Onlyism that says that the Word of God was not preserved in the original languages and the translation KJV is greater than the originals. These men like Gipp (and others of that movement, Peter Ruckman, Gail Riplinger, Mike Hoggard, Reg Kelly) deny the doctrine of preservation, but their desire for certainty results in a kind of double inspiration, where the English translation becomes the new authority above the authority that God actually inspired. Many people take this position, but it is fuelled by doubt and not faith. They don't get that position from scripture.

more to come…

Do you associate with these men or recommend their ministries or remain silent about their evil and errors?

Instead, these men should be persona non grata (Rom 16:17). Quoting someone positively is positive promotion. Where’s the spiritual discernment and allegiance to God’s Word? The Bible is very clear on the sin of evil associations.

“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Am 3:3).
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” (Pr 13:20).

Is this some sort of scheme or tactic to appear tolerant? It should be embarrassing and shameful, and the pastor held accountable for exposing congregants and others to heretics and wolves. This issue of unbiblical and evil association must be exposed because of the great danger it poses and how it encourages disobedience to Gods Word.

Sure there is “a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;” (Ecc. 3:7b) and in the face of error or heresy and those committed to it, it is a time to speak and warn. “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;” (2 Cor. 4:13). Silence in Scripture means acceptance (Eph. 4:25; Ps. 94:17). Being silent means acceptance, and its also bearing false witness. “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.” (Eph. 4:25). Silence equates compromise. In our day of great compromise and apostasy there is tremendous pressure to tacitly agree with the compromisers (whether IFB heretics or neo- evangelicals, worldliness, false unity, etc) and many professing Christians will seek some compromise. Neither Nehemiah or Mordecai compromised their Biblical convictions. They opened their mouth. We cannot keep our peace in the face of danger.

“Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Es. 4:13-14)
“I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion. For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me. Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles. I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer. Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man. For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.” (Job 32:17-22)

But won’t it create conflict?

Yes indeed it will, and that is not wrong as Jesus revealed by example and the Word of God commands. The true watchman of God doesn’t hold his peace and doesn’t keep silent. He creates conflict by blowing the trumpet against error, against sin and against worldliness.

“I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” (Is. 62:6-7).

Isaiah 62:6-7 is not referring to pastors but to all born again believers, who are all of the priesthood of believers.

Every born again believer is commanded to:

“earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Ju. 1:3).

Contending means to argue and dispute earnestly; to reprove sharply; to chide and strive to convince and reclaim; to strive against and in opposition; to quarrel and to dispute fiercely, to wrangle. We are to do that earnestly which means with sincere and intense conviction, with zeal. But people hate it, intensely! I know. Paul stated in 1 Th. 2:9, “we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.” He said “bold" and "with much contention” (“agon” is also translated into “conflict” and “fight” and “race”, e.g. “fight the good fight of faith”, “let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” “I have fought a good fight” — 1 Tim. 6:12; Heb. 12:1; 2 Tim. 4:7).

But this is not what you see today in churches. People want a pillow. A bed of roses. The ‘don’t be too harsh’ ticking of the ears, so they make their own standard as to what reproof and rebuke should be like. The kind of talk that doesn’t offend. God however commands me to,

“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. . . . watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” (2 Tim 4:1-2, 5).

Why?

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Tim 4:3-4).

Our anger towards error and teachers of error should reflect God's, a kind of directed anger, which serves a particular purpose. It shouldn't be an out-of-control, selfish anger, but one that declares our displeasure with a sinful and erroneous activity, either our own or someone else's.

“To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.” (Pr. 28:21)
“Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.” (2 Ch 19:2)

Seeing the devilish, tyrannical performances of the..."ministers of righteousness" (2 Cor, 11: 15) in the videos, leaves one wondering how great the blindness must be of those who accept such wicked men as ministers of righteousness. Jesus words concerning "light" that is not true light come to mind: "If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (Matt. 6: 23)
